About this marquee
A 12x6m marquee for sale gives you 72m² of fully enclosed floor space, one of the largest tents we sell. It seats around 48 people for a sit-down dinner or holds roughly 120 standing, with removable window walls and zip up doors at both ends. It is dispatched from an Australian warehouse in about 2 business days, with free delivery to most of Australia. Also listed as a 6x12m.
Who this size is for
72m² is wedding reception territory. It is the size you want when the guest list has passed 40 and a smaller marquee would have people eating with their chairs against a wall. At 12 metres long and 6 metres wide you can run three banquet tables down the length, keep a 2 metre aisle clear, and still have room at one end for a bar, a cake table or a small dance floor.
It also works hard as a commercial unit. Market stallholders, caterers, community groups and school fetes use this footprint because it covers a lot of ground for one purchase and packs back into a manageable set of bags.
Not sure 72m² is right? Our marquee size calculator sizes it off your guest count in about ten seconds.
Open, part enclosed or sealed up
Every wall panel is independent. Take them all off for a summer market and you have a 72m² shade roof with clear sightlines. Fit the two long walls and leave the ends open for a breezeway. Or close the lot, zip both doors, and you have a weatherproof room. The zip up ends tie back so guests are not fighting a flapping wall every time they walk through.
The 160g/m² UV treated roof is heavier than the 140g/m² walls on purpose. The roof takes the sun and the rain, the walls only need to stop wind and spray.
Setting it up
Budget three to four hours and three or four people for a first build at this size. It is 12 metres of steel frame and it is not a one person job. Lay the roof flat, assemble the frame around it, then lift the whole roof into place as a team and pin the legs.
This is an occasional use structure, not a permanent building, and a 72m² roof catches a serious amount of wind. It must be weighted or pegged at every leg, every time. Read how to weigh down a marquee in wind before your first event, because a tent this size needs meaningfully more ballast than a small gazebo.
How it compares in our range
The 6x6m marquee at $899 covers 36m², exactly half this footprint, and suits 24 seated. The 10x5m luxury wedding marquee at $1,599 has 49m² and the only aluminium frame in our range, which makes it lighter to handle and a better pick if you set up and pack down often. Need even more room? The 12x7m grand marquee at $2,099 steps up to 84m², the largest we sell. This 12x6m is the one to buy when 72m² is the right amount of floor space.
Yours for every event
At $1,799 the 12x6m is yours to keep. For a venue, a community group or anyone who hosts more than once, it is ready whenever the next event comes around.

Buy vs hire, the quick maths
Buy vs hire, the quick maths
Hiring a mid-size marquee in Brisbane typically costs $400 to $800 per weekend, and large wedding marquees can run past $2,000 a hire. Buying costs about one hire fee, once, and every event after that is free.
No pickup deadline, no bond, no hoping it is available on your date. Most of our customers are ahead after the first or second use.
