About this product
A heavy duty portable carport with a galvanised steel frame, a white water resistant PE roof and an anchor kit with 3 steel wind cables. Two sizes: 4.5x3m for $440 and 6x3m for $470, with free delivery to every Australian state and territory.
Which size do I need?
- 4.5x3m (4.57m x 3.05m, about 13.9m²): one car, a trailer, a ride-on mower, a small boat or a covered work area.
- 6x3m (6.05m x 3.05m, about 18.5m²): a dual cab ute or 4WD with room to walk around it, a boat on its trailer, or a covered work bay for a mobile mechanic or car detailer.
Check your vehicle height first. The roof peaks at 2.8m or 2.99m depending on the leg setting, but clearance at the sides is about 2m on the low setting. Most cars, SUVs and utes fit. A ute with a tall canopy or a loaded roof rack, a caravan or a high roof van may not, so measure before you order.

Wind, storms and anchoring
The galvanised frame resists rust better than plain painted steel, and the PE roof is UV treated and water resistant, so it keeps sun, rain and dust off whatever is underneath.
The 3 steel cables brace the frame against wind. On grass, stake every foot and tension the cables and ropes. On concrete or pavers, bolt the foot plates down with masonry anchors (not included) or add heavy weights to every leg. Before a forecast storm, strong wind or a cyclone warning, take the roof cover off, because a roof cover catches wind like a sail. This is a portable shelter, not a cyclone rated building.

Do I need council approval in Brisbane?
Brisbane City Council treats a carport on a house block as building work that generally needs approval from a building certifier. A portable carport is sold as a temporary shelter, but if you plan to leave it up long term, check with Brisbane City Council or a private certifier before you set it up. Other councils, especially in cyclone regions, have their own rules.

The supplier says 2 adults can put it up in about half an hour. Allow longer the first time. No concrete footings are needed.
